Saint Seiya Myth Cloth EX Aquarius Camus Reborn Edition Officially Revealed – Same Old Flaws Remain
Saint Seiya Myth Cloth EX Aquarius Camus Reborn Edition: A Mixed Bag
The latest addition to the Saint Seiya Myth Cloth EX lineup is the reborn version of Aquarius Camus, one of the most popular Gold Saints in terms of both appearance and fan appeal. While the official images have finally been released, it’s clear that some of the old issues persist, with many fans noting that the quality still doesn’t match that of the Hades Aquarius version. Of course, this is subjective, and individual preferences will vary.
What’s New in the Reborn Edition?
The Saint Seiya Myth Cloth EX Aquarius Camus reborn edition features a fresh sculpt based on the anime version, complete with additional parts. It also includes the familiar “Cloth Decomposition Assembly Diagram” from the EX series, allowing collectors to appreciate the intricate details of Aquarius’ ultimate technique, Aurora Execution.
In the manga, Camus is the mentor of Cygnus Hyoga, while the anime later adjusted this relationship to make him Hyoga’s master directly. This reborn edition introduces an anime-accurate thigh armor without patterns, distinguishing it from the manga version.
Posability and Articulation
The assembly of the Cloth remains unchanged from previous releases. However, the EX body provides excellent articulation, enabling dynamic poses like the iconic “Freezing Coffin” and “Aurora Execution.” Despite this, some fans may find the proportions awkward—particularly the oversized shoulder and waist armor, which clash with the slender EX frame.
Accessories and Facial Expressions
In addition to the standard faceplate, the set includes four interchangeable expressions: “closed eyes,” “shouting,” “smirking,” and a sinister variant for scenes where Camus is impersonated by the Sea Monster. These allow for versatile display options.
Release Details and Verdict
The Aquarius Camus Reborn Edition is set for release in October 2022, priced at around 12,100 JPY (approximately $600). While die-hard fans might consider adding this to their collection, the overall value proposition feels lackluster compared to previous releases like the Hades Aquarius. Unless you’re a completist, this one might be worth skipping.
